Patchwork Octopus

This is the first ever Periwinkle Plush auction.

Bidding will begin at 5:00PM CST on January 10th and close at 10:00PM CST on January 12th. Popcorn bidding will go into effect should a bid be placed within 5 minutes of the end time. Each subsequent bid will add 2 minutes to the auction clock until no further bids have been placed within that time frame.

At the end of the auction, the high bidder will be invoiced and have 24 hours to complete their purchase. Failure to do so will result in a ban from any future auctions, right to buys, or giveaways.

Should the reserve price not be met, it will become a straight sale item in my shop.

Over 30 hours of work went into this piece. From drafting the pattern, to pinning and sewing the individual scraps together, embroidering the eyes by hand, double sewing the seams for extra strength, and stuffing the body with a combination of polyfil and fabric scraps that were too small to sew.

My goal with these patchwork pieces is to reduce my environmental impact by using every last bit of fabric that I possibly can. I save all scraps from any project I create, sorting them into usable outer pieces and inner filling. In this way, every patchwork creature is completely unique in the combination of fabrics and colors, and tells a story of the plushies that came before it.

This octopus is nearly four feet tall from the top of its head to the end of its tentacles. It has a flat base that makes it easy to set it upright. There are no weighted beads in this piece, but it still weighs in at nearly 12 pounds (5.44 kilograms).
